STEVEN WILSON

We saw porcupine tree twice in the past. They always gave it everything during the show. This show was the same in every respect. The opening act John Wesley did a forty minute very delightful and balanced single guitar set. Very talented and enjoyable. Steven played two sets with short break. Entertaining the crowd, changing the music mood, loud soft, electric, acoustic. He sang along with vocal backup on the jumbo Tron which requires perfect timing. He talked more and got audience involved more than in the past. Acoustics at the Ritz are awesome. Ready for show. It was a Christmas gift for my daughter.

EXCELLENT QUADRAPHONIC SOUND, FANTASTIC SHOW

Saw Steven Wilson on Saturday November 24th in Hamilton at "The Studio", Ontario, Canada - concerned about some reviews I've read about the sound being too loud I have to wonder what shows these people have been to? Maybe solo harp concertos or something? I always check with my phone what the dBs were and in Hamilton the sound was averaging 110dB, I brought my -25dB filters for my custom earplugs (who goes to shows without earplugs anyway?) based on previous reviews and was mad I didn't bring my -15 filters as they would have sufficed. Previous shows including u2 at Skydome and Ministry at The Opera House all hit an average of 120-125dB which is MUCh louder than 110dB. Anyway, Steven's show started very punctually (thank you) and the sound mix was heavenly, perfect mixing in a venue designed for audiophile reproductions (you can see lots of acoustic paneling in teh venue), quad sound was amazing and clear, super talented players, A+ setlist, only missing Hand.Cannot.Erase. Thx!

STEVEN WILSON AT THE WILTERN IN LA

I flew in from Montreal. Steven Wilson was fabulous as usual. But there was an extremely inconsiderate woman who insisted on screaming in our ears during the whole first set ( could this be the start of Wilsonmania?) Thankfully security removed her early after the intermission. The remainder was like dying and going straight to heaven. Thanks Wiltern for coming to our rescue, and thanks to Steven and band for another magnificent show! Staff were amazing.

STEVEN WILSON CONCERT AT THE PABST IN MILWAUKEE ON MAY 3RD

I have been a fan of Steven Wilson for quite a few years but have never gotten the chance to see one of his shows. Thoroughly enjoyed it! The sound was amazing. The technicians had it dialed in perfectly. Surround speakers in the back of the theater added a lot. The imagery projected onto the front and rear screens created a totally immersive environment. Steven was funny and talkative. Him and his band are amazing musicians. Rock fans in the U.S. that are not Steven Wilson fans are missing out. Buy his albums and go to his shows. You will not be disappointed. Also loved the Pabst. Beautiful venue for a concert.

GREAT CONCERT-CROWD TOO NOISEY-WILTERN STAFF EXCELLENT

The Steven Wilson concert was innovative and creative from start to finish between the use of surround sound, lights and motion holographic looking imagery, the best musicianship and brilliant song writing. We didn't get to see Ninet Tayeb but were treated to a perfectly synced motion image of her singing-very effective. The concert was loud with so much bottom end coming out of the subs that you could feel an air-blast every time the kick drum hit. It was balanced overall but there were time-at least from my seat-where the sound was so massive it was hard to hear individual instrumentation-especially the Chapman Stick but incredible none the less. The crowd was obnoxious I'm not sure what causes people to yell during acoustic / softer passages but I found it discourteous. The Wiltern Theater staff was helpful and upbeat. I was disappointed to have to pay $25 for parking This year they let people stand in the middle of the floor blocking the view from those that were seated.

PROG IS ALIVE AND WELL IN TORONTO

I have attended many progressive rock concerts in my time from Peter Gabriel, to the likes of bands like Jethro Tull, and Yes, But I must say last night brought a tear to my eye from the shear beauty and perfection of not only the performance but the exceptional 5.1 surround set-up. I would say even a cut above my last Porcupine Tree show.

INCREDIBLE

Flew in from Vancouver for the sole purpose of experiencing Steven Wilson backed by some of the finest musicians in the industry absolutely blow us away. Well worth the cost to come to Toronto and would do it again in a heart beat.

LOUD BUT CLEAR

What a night. Went in as a Porcupine Tree fan thinking all Steven's solo stuff was slow and melloncolly. Not so. Great music great players and great sound. Drums could have been louder in the mix though.

SOUND QUALITY DISAPPOINTING

I was super stoked for seeing Steven Wilson in Toronto, but the Danforth is a dump. Up in the balcony it was kind of loud with what I felt was a substandard mix. Getting into and out of the venue was unpleasant as well. Steven Wilson is worth seeing but not there.

TOO LOUD, AND IT SUCKED BEING STANDING ROOM ONLY.

I love Steven Wilson, and did enjoy the show, but found the sound way too loud for this very small venue. Also did not help having to stand for 4 hours with the wait outside and the show.

SHOW WAS GOOD, SECURITY WAS RUDE.....

I work in the concert industry. Am tickling 60 at this point and have been around a long time. Very rarely go to shows, but I love Steven's music so I grabbed my daughter (also a fan) and we came out to the Crystal. Coming in (through the side entrance) I did not see any notices for "no photos or video". Took some cell photos and at one point I decided to record a little video.... That's when a very rude security guy came up to me. All he had to do was say "please don't record - we don't allow it..." I would've apologized and stopped immediately (there were of course a lot of people doing so). Instead, he acted like a total asshole, stuck his face in mine and rudely yelled at me. Again, I am almost 60. It pretty much ruined my vibe there. We stuck out the rest of the show, but it wasn't the same after that. I know good concert security very well - we carry our own tour with us. This guy was a horrible representation of the Crystal - I will not be coming back there anytime soo

EXTREMELY TOO LOUD

Great songs when watched on internet/dvd professionally shot and soundboard audio-then no excess volume/distortion.Half of show i was in lobby.Speaker array above my head approx.but many in other areas said super loud too.I couldn't make out individual instruments 99% /lost in wall of sound,l experienced same at Fantasy Springs Event Center Indio Dweeezil Zappa/Hendrix Tribute a couple of years ago but had instrument separation.Mind numbing and body shock decibel level.Even with cheapo ear protection ugh,

SUPER LOUD EQUALS DISTORTION AND BRAIN DAMAGE!

The music was so loud it was a wall of sound and distortion.I had to use earplugs, When I went outside I could make out individual instruments.Great music turned into noise.

1.0 star rating A prog fan from Toronto, Ontario

HORRIFICALLY BAD

Mind- numbingly loud, Steve Wilson has decided to cut ties with any prog influences and embrace loud and musically mediocre metal. A complete disappointment after a great performance a few years back of the HCE tour... Will never ever listen to anything new from Steven Wilson.
